Playoff Tournament Overview

Round 1: All 14 teams in 2 brackets of 7 teams each that play a minimum of 3 games.
Round 2: Top 4 teams in each bracket from Round 1 (Weeks 1-3) advance to Round 2. Matchups for Round 2 are as follows:

The team who finished 1st in their bracket plays the 4th place team in opposite bracket; team who finished 2nd in their bracket plays team who finished 3rd in opposite bracket, etc. and demonstrated graphically as follows:

A1 plays B4
A2 plays B3
A3 plays B2
A4 plays B1

Teams will be ranked in their respective bracket based on record and, in case of ties, use of First Round Playoff Tournament Tiebreakers (see below). Teams finishing 1st and 2nd in their bracket are home teams for Round 2. Following Round 2, the 4 remaining teams are re-seeded based upon seeding used to start the playoffs.

Playoff Tournament Tiebreakers
(Playoff Seeding will be completed before the start of Playoff Weeks 1, 5, and 6)

Seeding Tiebreakers
  • Tiebreaker 1 - Overall Record
  • Tiebreaker 2 - Head-to-Head
  • Tiebreaker 3 - Division Record
  • Tiebreaker 4 - Fewest Runs Allowed (Team Defense)
  • Tiebreaker 5 - Most Runs Scored (Team Offense)
  • Tiebreaker 6 - Coin Flip
 First Round Playoff Tournament Tiebreakers
  1. Tournament Head-to-Head - Two Teams Tied

  2. A) If two teams are tied for the best record and have played each other in the tournament, the winner of that game advances.
    B) If two teams are tied for the best record but did not play each other in the tournament, the winner of Head-to-Head during Regular Season advances.
    C) If two teams are tied for the best record but did not play each other in the regular season, the team with the lowest average runs allowed per game in the playoffs will advance.
    D) If two teams are tied with the best record and are tied with lowest average runs allowed per game in playoffs, then the higher seed will advance (seeding is determined using Seeding Tiebreakers before start of First Round).

  3. Tournament Head-to-Head - Three or more Teams Tied (Tiebreakers must apply for all teams, or next tiebreaker is used. If one team is eliminated, then remaining teams start back at first tiebreaker. If there only two teams remaining, then format #1 is used.)

  4. A) If three or more teams are tied for the best record and all have played each other in the tournament, and one team has beaten all teams that it is tied with, that team will advance.
    B) If three or more teams are tied for the best record and all have NOT played each other in the tournament, the team with best overall record during Head-to-Head in Regular Season advances.
    C) If three or more teams are tied for the best record and all have NOT played each other in the Regular Season, the team with the lowest average runs allowed per game in the playoffs will advance.
    D) If three or more teams are tied with the best record and are tied with lowest average runs allowed per game in playoffs, then the higher seeded team will advance (Regular Season Record with applicable tiebreakers from First Round Seeding).
