2016 OTB-NOTB Hitting Contest at LeLacheur Park!

We have secured LeLacheur Park for our annual Hitting Contest to help raise money for UMass Baseball. It’s a great time for a worthy cause.

On Saturday afternoon, October 8, 2016, UMass coach Ken Harring will provide pitchers and fielders for us to knock the ball around the park. Competitors are also free to shag fly balls as well as to field infield ground balls. Volunteers are also welcome to help us keep score by tracking where hit baseballs land.

The hitting contest will run from approximately 12:00 Noon - 2:00 PM.

Note: Make sure to get to these events early. In past years there have been events in this part of Lowell and you may encounter some additional traffic.

A few rules:
  • New game balls will be used.
  • 10 swings per round.
  • Hit as many rounds as you like...pay as you go - $10 for 1st round, $5 for any additional rounds.
  • Scoring: 100 feet=1 point, 200 feet=2 points, 300 feet=3 points, hit the wall=4 points, Home Run=10 points plus an extra ball.
  • Your "official" round for scoring will be your highest scoring round.
  • Hitters score points by consistently driving the ball, even if no home runs are hit.
  • Friends and family are invited to watch and can participate in the contest themselves!
  • Contest open to all ages.
  • Uniforms are optional.
  • All baseball bats allowed including wood, aluminum, composite, drop 5’s, whatever...
  • Competition will be divided into 3 divisions of competition (a minimum of 5 competitors required in each division):
An under-18 division, an 18-47 division, and an over-48 division.
We will be awarding $60 gift certificates for wood bats to the winners of all 3 age brackets!
